Open online registration for the Barn Players' "Barn Junior" summer series youth production of A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, KIDS opens on April 1st.
There are no auditions for this production; open enrollment will take place online on a first-come first-serve basis, with a limit of 25 student-actors. Last year, the cast was filled in 12 days. Waiting lists will be created for those whose applications are received after the program is full.
FROG AND TOAD is open to students of all abilities, from those with years on the stage, to those who are trying theatre for the first time. We will work on acting, singing, and dancing skills during rehearsals. Students entering 3rd through 6th grades are eligible. If a student is exiting 6th grade and was not able to audition for the winter series production (THE WIZ), she or he may enroll as well.
The theater is also looking for a high school students to act as assistant stage manager and costume/props designer. Those interested should send a letter of interest along with a resume to
barnjr@thebarnplayer.org Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin July 8, running M-F 10am-4pm, but this is subject to change at this time. A parent/student meeting will be held in late June, before rehearsals begin. Rehearsals last during the day (last year's schedule was M-F 10-4) A lunch break will be provided (but students must provide their own meal). Specifics about this year's schedule will be announced soon.
Opening night is Tuesday, July 27th. We close on Thursday, July 29th. Performances are at 7:30; actor call is at 6:00.
Missing one or two rehearsals is almost an inevitable part of theatre due to illness, family circumstances, and life in general. Missing more than two rehearsals, however, adds extra stress to the actor, and is unfair to other students who are working on the production. If you know that you will be unavailable for a significant portion of the rehearsal window, we ask that you respectfully allow that enrollment slot to be used by another student.
This program is funded by grants and box office revenue from the Barn Players' mainstage season, so the program is tuition-free. For dates, production information, and other details, or to enroll your child, check out
