Roxy's Downtown is roaring back into Wichita's booming theatre scene. Originally Roxy's nightclub, then Cabaret Oldtown, now Roxy's Downtown has gone through several transformations. Their latest production, Always... Patsy Cline, by Ted Swindley, is keeping the eager audiences satisfied.
Always... is a critically acclaimed two-woman jukebox musical, celebrating friendship, memories and music. It was an excellent choice for the new and improved Roxy's space and patrons. Cindy Summers, plays the titular character, and Christine Tasheff, plays Louise Seger, Patsy's fan and friend. The two actresses have a lovely comic charisma. Summers is polished, captivating, and captures the charming qualities of Cline. Tasheff is delightful and sassy.
The bar menu is extensive, and the theatre is opened an hour before curtain for patrons to enjoy. Additionally, Stroud's Restaurant and Bar offers a fried chicken dinner option to theatre goers for an additional fee.
Nineteen years ago, these actresses performed their roles for Cabaret Oldtown, which became the longest running show this side of the Mississippi. Grab the opportunity to see a piece of Wichita theatre history come alive- again.
