Raw, messy, and honest, a show about what could happen if we were brave enough to grieve in the open and without the expectation of healing. Join us for a night of family, movement, and tears.
Devised by MA/MFA International students at East 15 School of Acting, The Thin Place tells the story of a family in the throes of grief and invites audiences to experience the ways we allow ourselves to heal in the open within a community.
Motivated by the exploration of generational trauma and healing, the show formed through explorations of movement, music, traditions of grief, and family dynamics. The initial showing at East 15 was met with praise, support, and a strong sense of connection to the story and themes reflected by each character. The Thin Place takes audiences on a ride through the negotiations that the pain of losing a parent throws families into. When the only way out of the thin place is through, who actually knows the way and who do we trust to take us to the other side?
Inspired by the fixed houses in astrology, Fixed House Theatre company was created as a creative meeting space, always accessible and ever evolving, for alumni and students of East 15 acting school. We seem to be a collective of storytellers that although firm in our beliefs and backgrounds, not only honor, but crave creative connection here in London that is anchored in all our homes across the world. The shows we produce are wandering but not aimless, inclusive and yet pushy, wanting always to unite us and audiences with a shared vision and goal; weaving together for a moment and then releasing back into our separate worlds changed by the craft and the story we birthed.
