Genre-bending 4-piece Queen Colobus perform music from their latest EP live in the Elgar Room.
Led by do-it-all Welsh front woman Beth Hopkins on saxophone and vocals, Queen Colobus are making waves on the London Jazz scene. Their song writing reveals vulnerability and anger and gives the finger to fitting into tiny genre boxes. They mash together jazz with indie rock, neo-soul, and Beth’s teenage obsession with Dave Grohl. Their raw and emotionally honest lyrics, epic and engulfing build-ups and wonky melodies will appeal to fans of Hiatus Kaiyote, Nilüfer Yanya and SAULT.
