Kindliness is a play that deals with themes of tribalism, xenophobia & cosmopolitanism. It is a response to the many wars and social conflicts that we are experiencing worldwide. In an imaginary country, Malcolm is cheating on his wife with a young immigrant woman. When a war suddenly ensues, he needs to decide whether he wants to escape the violence with his new lover or with his wife & son. This play explores how people create the illusion of “the other” and questions whether achieving global compassion is at all possible.
