Gustav Holst’s 'The Idea' presented by Irrational Theatre at The Courtyard Theatre on Saturday, June 8th at 4pm and 7:30pm.
Experience the delight of this little-known, family-friendly operetta making its UK premiere this year. The Prime Minister has had an Idea…
This early composition by Gustav Holst, a far cry from his famous orchestral suite The Planets, features catchy tunes inspired by Gilbert and Sullivan. Holst's collaboration with his contemporary, Fritz B. Hart, brings a sharp, witty, and satirical libretto to life in a joyful new arrangement by Patrick Vincent.
Directed by Paula Chitty, this witty and surreal staging sees the Prime Minister interrupt the wacky court of a rambling king and clown-faced queen to announce his great Idea.
