When casinos come to mind, the first thing we imagine is a sprawling casino floor with table games, card games, and slots. People drift between the tables with other people, enjoying their evening. However, the vast majority of players today prefer online casinos. They’re more convenient, accessible, and usually offer welcome deals for newcomers. Thanks to websites like Oddschecker, it’s easy to shop around for trusted providers, too.Returning to write about physical casinos, all over the world casinos offer a lot more than roulette and slots. The nicer the casino, the better their performance halls, for example.
Locals might show up to the closest casino to catch a live show. The sheer number of musical residencies in Las Vegas should highlight just how state-of-the-art casino event halls are. But what about another type of live performance—one that takes place inside a theatre?
As it happens, there are world-class theatre located in casinos around the world. Here’s where you can find them.
Casino at Great Canadian Toronto (Toronto, Canada)
The massive and state-of-the-art event hall at this casino is called The Theatre. Given this is a new construction, The Theatre promises a great experience for attendees. While most of the events are live shows from major musical artists, there are also live plays hosted (and even comedy shows). Thanks to its Hollywood-caliber features, guests can expect cutting-edge sound and lighting.
River Rock Casino Resort (Richmond, Canada)
This luxury casino has just about everything a visitor could want in terms of entertainment. Its theatre is no exception, which offers some of the best concerts, comedy shows, and full-scale theatre productions in western Canada. In fact, the theatre is arranged in a classic style, allowing guests seated anywhere to have a full view of the stage and enjoy a clean sound experience.
Casino Nova Scotia (Halifax, Canada)
On the opposite site of the country, there’s yet another fantastic option for theatre fans who might want to do a bit of gaming: the Bruce Guthro Theatre at Casino Nova Scotia. Along with musical productions and concerts, this theatre hosts local and regional theatre productions. Though the space is geared toward live music concerts, that bodes well for musicals that stop in Halifax.
Estoril Casino (Cascais, Portugal)
As the birthplace of the modern casino, it’s no surprise that Europe is home to dozens of high-profile and luxurious casinos. But the Estoril Casino in Cascais, Portugal is on a whole other level. Despite the fact that this casino has been in operation for more than fifty years, the entire venue feels modern and chic.
Unsurprisingly, its theatre has a massive capacity—and it regularly runs local shows. At the moment, the Estoril Casino has its ‘O Musica da Minha Vida’ residency underway, which showcases Portuguese theatre culture, music, and dance. Think of it like a Las Vegas residency-style show.
Casino Baden-Baden (Baden-Baden, Germany)
Baden-Baden is famous for its entertainment venues and spas. There’s also the allure of historical value, as this city has been home to casinos for centuries. At Casino Baden-Baden, guests are ushered into a world of lush luxury. Each of its rooms is highly ornate and geared toward a specific type of experience—and they're jaw-droppingly beautiful.
Its theatre is no exception. It has multiple tiers decked out in rococo decoration—like something from the Champs Elysees. The theatre regularly puts on a range of shows, which includes options for families, along with complex dramas and musical productions. For theatre fans heading to Germany, this is a can’t-miss.
