BISHI performs live with guest Phillip Grannell in the Elgar Room.
An evening of dynamic works for vocals, electronics and strings composed by BISHI, including new arrangements from her catalogue of works focused on dual identities, anti-racism, and a call to find empathy in a divided world plus the premiere performance of her upcoming score for VR immersive experience, Maya: The Birth (Chapter 1), created by renowned artist and women rights activist Poulomi Basu and co-directed/produced by CJ Clarke (JAPC).
Maya is a coming-of-age tale of a young British Asian girl’s sexuality: her period, her power, her magic, and her protest, launching at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2023. BISHI’s score, which was inspired by Indian Classical music, choral music, ambient electronica, and the sound of horror movie soundtracks features voice, sitar, violin, and electronics. The show will be accompanied by visuals taken from Maya (The Birth) realised through mixed reality platform Volta. The full soundtrack album will be released in Winter 2023.
