For Adventures in Motion Pictures he created the role of The Swan in Swan Lake (Sadler’s Wells, UK tour, West End, LA and Broadway, Time Out Award, Evening Standard Award, Astaire Award for Outstanding Male Dancer, Tony Award Nomination for Best Actor), created the role of The Pilot and played The Angel in Cinderella (West End and LA) and Gala Performances of Spitfire. He was a member of the Royal Ballet 1989-97 (principal from 1994) where roles included Romeo/Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Crown Prince in Mayerling, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Gloria, Winter Dreams, The Judas Tree, Different Drummer, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Symphony in C, Ballet Imperial, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, La Ronde, Fearful Symmetries, Herman Schmerman, Steptext, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, Danses Concertantes, Symphonic Variations, Le Corsair Pas de Deux, Thais Pas de Deux and Firstext. He has performed with Irek Mukhamedov and Company, Portugal Ballet Festival, An Evening with Sylvie Guillem, Darcey Bussell and Friends, La Scala, Milan, Rome Opera Ballet, K Ballet, Star Dancers Japan, English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet and has led Adam Cooper and Friends/Adam Cooper Company at Exeter Festival for three years and at Washington International Ballet Festival.

Choreography includes: Just Scratchin’ the Surface (Scottish Ballet), Six Faces (K Ballet), Nature of Touch (Exeter Festival), On Your Toes (Leicester Haymarket and Royal Festival Hall, Critics’ Circle Dance Award for Best Choreography), Garbo (Oscarsteatern, Stokholm), Singin’ in the Rain (Sadler’s Wells and Leicester Haymarket, Critics’ Circle Dance Award nomination), Grand Hotel (Donmar Warehouse, Olivier Award nomination), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Japan tour and Sadler’s Wells, also directed), Wallflowering (Sevenoaks Playhouse), Promises Promises (Sheffield Crucible), Side by Side by Sondheim (The Venue), Carousel (Savoy, Whatsonstage Award nomination), Simply Cinderella (Curve Leicester, also directed), Robert Devereux (Opera Holland Park), Shall We Dance (Sadler’s Wells, also directed, Whatsonstage Award nomination) and Three Phantoms (UK tour 2011). Adam won the Ursula Moreton Choreographic Competition, Professional Level Prize at Prix de Lausanne, and Critics’ Circle Audience Award for Most Popular Dancer.

Film and television include: The Merry Wives of Windsor, Winter Dreams, Royal Ballet Winter Gala, Swan Lake, Dance Ballerina Dance, The South Bank Show, Madame Bovary, Jason and the Argonauts, Billy Elliot, Sandman and Royal Variety Performances in 1997 and 2011.

Review: A CHORUS LINE, Sadler's Wells

The show is in itself show-stopping. The cast of accomplished triple-threats swaps tense competition for a jubilant celebration of form. In a post-pandemic industry that’s suffered cuts to the arts across all areas, it’s disheartening to see an artist’s quality of life hasn’t exactly progressed much. But, gosh, they make it look so beautiful.
