Youth Music Theatre UK has announced the line-up for its Summer 2009 Production programme.

The nationwide shows are:

Loserville: The Musical by James Bourne (Busted, Son of Dork, songwriter for McFly) and Elliot Davis

A Winter's Tale by Howard Goodall and Nick Stimson

The Chosen Room by Marie Jones (Stones in His Pockets, A Night in November) and Mark Dougherty (Musical Director of Riverdance), with Las Vegas choreographer Gail Davies

Peter Pan by Nick Stimson and Jimmy Jewell (NHS The Musical, Frankenstein for YMT)

Kumari, an epic new show set against a dramatic Asian background, and

Brian Haw, the moving story behind one of Britain's most notorious political campaigners.

The productions will take place in professional venues and festivals in cities across the UK including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds, Plymouth, Guildford and London.

Speaking about the new line-up, Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT)'s Executive Producer Jon Bromwich commented "we are delighted to announce our 2009 programme, which features some of the country's most talented musical theatre and music practitioners. There is something to interest all young performers"

Songwriter James Bourne, known for being a member of the bands Busted and Son of Dork and as a multi-platinum writer for bands including McFly and Boyzone, said of his new show Loserville: The Musical: "the show has a brilliant and colourful cast of characters - it's a show all about the geek coming through. For anyone who ever felt bullied or felt different, this show is for you. We thought it would be great to get involved with YMT - so many musicals get written and never staged, but YMT are great at following through interesting new ideas. It's a great thing for young people to get involved with - I'm glad I did stage stuff when I was younger - it's good fun and you meet loads of friends"

Howard Goodall's A Winter's Tale is inspired by - and loosely based on - Shakespeare's classic play, where the comic and the tragic walk hand in hand towards the most magical and unexpected of conclusions. Goodall is England's first National Ambassador for Singing.

The Chosen Room and Peter Pan are developments of workshopped productions completed by YMT in Summer 2008, which will be completed and fully staged. Peter Pan brings a fresh and original new approach to JM Barrie's classic, whilst The Chosen Room is the first musical set inside a Facebook-style social networking site!

Young people aged 11-21 can register now to audition for the shows in January and February by visiting www.youthmusictheatreuk.org
