Also, AnTony Jay and Jonathan Lyn film six new television episodes, to air in early 2013!
Due to unprecedented demand, Jonathan Lynn and AnTony Jay’s hit production of YES, PRIME MINISTER will extend its run once more at Trafalgar Studios until 30 March 2013. Following its opening at Chichester Festival Theatre in the Spring of 2010, YES, PRIME MINISTER has become one of the most successful political plays ever to have run in the West End. YES, PRIME MINISTER has played at the Gielgud, the Apollo and now the Trafalgar Studios, proving that there is a strong appetite for quality commercial drama in the west end.
Jay and Lynn’s BAFTA award-winning political comedy YES, PRIME MINISTER first aired on BBC 2 in 1980 and ran between 1980 and 1984. Following the success of this stage production, six new episodes starring the original West End actors David Haig as Prime Minister Jim Hacker and Henry Goodman as Sir Humphrey Appleby have now been recorded at the BBC studios where the original series were filmed. The episodes will be aired in January and is set to be one of the television highlights of early 2013.
The roles of Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey Appleby on stage are currently played by Robert Daws and Michael Simkins. The production which is currently playing at the Trafalgar Studios looks set to emulate the success of the old Whitehall Farces which dominated the theatre landscape in the 1970’s and 1980’s. YES, PRIME MINISTER shows what a creatively astute force Jay and Lynn are. Through their comic genius, they show everyone who really runs the British Government and the country!
YES, PRIME MINISTER will currently runs at Trafalgar Studios One, Whitehall, City of Westminster, SW1A 2DY. Show times are Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm and Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm.
