Obama on My Mind, a musical inspired by President Barack Obama, will make its world premiere in the UK on March 3rd 2009.

In celebration of Barack Obama being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States today, the musical released a title track sung by Ruby Turner.

Written and produced by the Ohio-born Teddy Hayes, The Obama Musical focuses on the personalities behind the Democratic candidate's campaign.

Tim McArthur directs, with musical direction by Chris Jerome. Casting has not been announced at this time.

Songs in the show, due to receive its premiere at Islington's Hens and Chickens Theatre, include Obama and Me, which is sung by an obsessive member of his team and includes the lyric: "We are a pair/like chocolate and éclair".

'Obama on My Mind' will feature a mixture of pop, rock, gospel and soft jazz songs. It begins performances on March 3 with an official opening on March 5, before ending its run on March 21st, 2009.

Hayes spoke to the Telegraph regarding his inspiration for the musical, "I've done a bit of work for the Obama campaign and this is a send-up of what happens behind the scenes."
