As part of his fundraising for Scope UK in the 2014 Virgin London Marathon, actor/singer Andrew Bateup will present the concert Run, Fat Boy, Run at the Actors' Church, Covent Garden on Sunday March 16.
On graduating from the Royal Academy Of Music in 2012, Bateup joined the UK touring cast of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat until December 2013. When he decided to run in the London Marathon, disability charity organization Scope UK stood out as a cause worthy of raising money for as they had assisted his 100% hearing-impaired brother's integration from education into the workplace, which is a huge challenge for a great many disabled people. On their website, Scope UK state: "We're all about changing society for the better, so that disabled people and their families can have the same opportunities as everybody else."
The concert will feature performances from some of the best vocal talent in London's West End theatre and from around the UK, currently including (with further artists to be confirmed):
Amelia Adams-Pearce (Spamalot, Hairspray)
Jordan Lee Davies (BBC's The Voice, The Secret Garden)
Richard J. Hunt (Joseph, Mack And Mabel)
Claudia Kariuki (Ragtime, Sweet Smell Of Success, Hairspray, Bare)
Carolyn Maitland (From Here To Eternity, Kiss Me Kate, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia)
Katie Paine (We Will Rock You, Girls' Night)
Jennifer Potts (Annie, Next Thing You Know, Joseph)
Stuart Matthew Price (The A To Z Of Mrs. P, The Sound Of Music, Mack And Mabel, Shrek, Parade)
Patrick Smyth (Hair, The Phantom Of The Opera, We Will Rock You)
Tosh Wanogho-Maud (The Book Of Mormon, Five Guys, Respect La Diva, Save The Last Dance)
Rob Wilshaw (Jersey Boys, Joseph, Evita, Betwixt, Blood Brothers)
Gary Wood (A Chorus Line, Wicked, 42nd Street, The King And I)
Lisa-Anne Wood (A Little Night Music, Les Miserables)
The Musical Director for the evening will be Marc McBride (who is currently covering and playing the role of Boq in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria.)
Andrew Bateup wishes to thank his family, friends and girlfriend for their continued support and hopes that people will support what promises to be a high quality concert and help raise funds for such a worthy cause.
