The extraordinary tale of a cave explorer is brought to life in FLOYD COLLINS, in the atmospheric surroundings of East End gem Wilton's Music Hall for a limited four-week run.
It is 1952 in Kentucky, and fearless cave explorer Floyd Collins dreams of finding fame and fortune deep underground. When the unthinkable happens and he becomes trapped, it is a desperate race against time as Collins' friends and family fight to set him free and keep his spirits up through a dark and dangerous time. Above ground, his plight catches the eye of the local press, and as the days and weeks pass, the whole country is riveted by his story and the media circus that surrounds it. In a touching tale of family, friendship and survival, Wilton's provides the perfect backdrop to this powerful musical based on a remarkable true story.
Accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful score, this all-new production of Adam Guettel and Tina Landau's award-winning musical takes audiences on a journey of determination and hope, as an entire nation prays for Collins' safe return.
Directed by Jonathan Butterell, critically acclaimed Floyd Collins is a unique and bold piece of work, hailed by New York Magazine as 'the original and daring musical of our day'.
Floyd Collins is presented in association with Wilton's Music Hall, by special arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe.
