West End's We Will Rock You Cancels Plans to Close in Oct.

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that closure plans for the hit West End musical We Will Rock You, featuring the songs of Queen, have been cancelled. The show will now play the Dominion Theatre through April 26th, 2007.

"The fact is, the show has proved such a continuing draw with both the home market and visitors to London, that it became obvious that a move this year would be premature. Besides which, the theatre owners very much wanted us to stay. In the end, they, and the public, made the decision for us," stated producer Phil McIntyire. Plans for an October 7th closing (preceding a regional tour) had originally been announced.

We Will Rock You will reach its fourth West End anniversary on May 11th. The show features a book by Ben Elton, direction by Christopher Renshaw and choreography by Arlene Phillips. Set on Planet Mall (formerly known as Earth) in a dark future that ordains computer-produced cyber music in place of live performance, We Will Rock You's heroes are a group of Bohemian rebels who must fight against the evil Killer Queen in order to play their music. The show features 32 classic Queen songs such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "I Want It All," "Radio Gaga," "Under Pressure," and the title song.
