GHOST STORIES, the West End's scariest show announces today (Monday 2 February) that it will close its doors for the last time on 15 March 2015 after nearly 1000 performances, five years since its premiere, playingto over 400,000 people worldwide.

The truly terrifying theatrical experience first ambushed unsuspecting theatregoers in February 2010, when the co-production between the Everyman Theatre and the Lyric Hammersmith premiered in Liverpool.

Written and directed by Jeremy Dyson (THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN) and Andy Nyman(SEVERENCE,DEADSET), along with the Lyric's Artistic Director Sean Holmes, the show went on to become theLyric Hammersmith's biggest success to date breaking all box office records with an extended run to meet public demand.

The production, which had already begun to develop a cult following among horror fans and theatregoers alike, then transferred to the Duke of York's theatre in 2011. Running for over a year to full houses and spine-chilling screams every night, the play toured to Toronto and Moscow, putting hearts into mouths wherever it went.

In 2014, Ghost Stories reopened at the West End's Arts Theatre hosted the stage phenomenon, breaking all box office records in its history, including playing to a record number of people in one night on the spookiest night of the year, Halloween.

Co-creator of the show Andy Nyman said:

'When Jeremy and I first conceived Ghost Stories, we never expected that the show would go on to be a cult hit, playing all over the world, with people returning time and again to be scared out of their minds. We're hugely proud of its success'

GHOST STORIES mixes the very best of theatre with the intense buzz of a thrill-ride, delivering something truly unique. With some new moments of shock, the show is a stage fright like no other - 80 rollercoaster minutes of thrilling, chilling laughs and the scariest fun you'll ever have in the theatre.

Jeremy Dyson has won numerous awards as the co--writer of the hilariously bleak THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN; including a Perrier Award, BAFTA Award for Best Comedy and the Golden Rose of Montreux. The stage show he co--penned,A LOCAL SHOW FOR LOCAL PEOPLE, was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2002.

Andy Nyman is an acclaimed actor, with credits including Channel 4's BAFTA nominated DEAD SET,the horror--comedy directed by Christopher Smith SEVERENCE and KICK ASS 2. He is the award--winning co--writer and co--creator of the TV productions DERREN BROWN - MIND CONTROL andTRICK OF THE MIND. He co--wrote and co--directed DERREN BROWN LIVE, AN EVENING OF WONDERS, ENIGMA and Derren's most recent live show - INFAMOUS. Andy also won the Best Entertainment Olivier Award in 2005 for SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES.
