Following recent celebrations to mark a year in the West End, Monty Python's Spamalot today announces a new booking period, taking bookings at the Palace Theatre through to September 27, 2008.
Having had over half a million "peasants" - from rock stars to royalty and soap stars to supermodels - join King Arthur in his quest to find the Holy Grail at the Palace Theatre, Monty Python's Spamalot continues to delight family audiences; even more so following the introduction of its unique Family Friendly pricing policy where kids between the ages of 5 -15 pay their age when accompanied by an adult paying for a top price ticket at Friday 5:15PM performances.
Since its inception thousands of families have taken advantage of the great value offered by the scheme. In view of this success not only will the policy be continued into the new booking period but also it has been decided to extend the pricing to Monday to Thursday evenings for a limited period from January 7 to February 7, 2008.
Monty Python's Spamalot currently stars Peter Davison, Hannah Waddingham, Robert Hands, Steven Kynman, Graham MacDuff, Andrew Spillett, Tony Timberlake and Bill Ward. In January Broadway leading lady Marin Mazzie who currently plays The Lady of the Lake on Broadway will join the London cast, swapping roles with Hannah Waddingham.
Marin Mazzie will appear as the Lady of the Lake until from January 14, when she will pass the role to the winner of Swedish TV reality show West End Star. The nine-part live Swedish TV series begins broadcasting on TV3 on December 8 with the winner being announced on 2 February.
Directed by Mike Nichols, Monty Python's Spamalot is "lovingly ripped-off" from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Book and lyrics are by Eric Idle with a Grammy Award-winning score by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. Other members of the Monty Python's Spamalot creative team include Casey Nicholaw (choreography), multiple Olivier Award-winners Tim Hatley (sets and costumes) and Hugh Vanstone (lighting) and Acme Sound Partners.
