On Sunday July 29, West End performer Kieran Brown will present “My Big Fat Musical Cabaret 2” at London’s prestigious Fringe venue, The Union Theatre, under the musical direction of Chris Passey and Scott Morgan.
The golden-voiced vocalist will be joined by an array of stellar guest singers, including Ria Jones (Acorn Antiques, Witches Of Eastwick, Evita, Les Miserables), Sophia Ravagelas (Never Forget, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, The Lion King), Ali Natkiel (Shrek, Laughter In the Rain) and Jacqueline Hughes (Wicked).
A native of Scotland and a graduate of the highly famEd Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, Kieran Brown is currently in the cast of smash-hit West End musical Wicked and his previous performing credits include roles in Christopher Hamilton’s musical Over The Threshold at the Edinburgh Fringe, the UK tour of Laughter In The Rain and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre. In 2010 Brown lived and worked in Vienna, playing the role of The Actor in The Woman In Black and directing and performing in A Christmas Carol (both at the InterNational Theatre Vienna) as well as directing and reprising his role as Tom in Over The Threshold for the Vienna Theatre Project.
Brown performed his debut “Big Fat Musical Cabaret” at The Pheasantry in Chelsea last October and the success of that evening led to the decision to launch a follow-up cabaret event in 2012. His second cabaret apparently aspires to be even “bigger and fatter” with pre-show and interval entertainment from a magician, a theatre-themed quiz complete with prizes for the audience and songs by composers as different as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim and from musicals as diverse as Taboo, Metropolis, My Fair Lady, Jersey Boys, Witches Of Eastwick and (of course) Wicked. There will even be the added bonus of performances of brand new songs by songwriters Chris Passey, Christopher Hamilton, Craig Christie, Jake Brunger & Pippa Cleary and Barry Anderson & Mark Petty.
Kieran Brown states that the overall aim of the show is to create a “celebration/party atmosphere”, generated by songs old and new and promises that “the evening will be packed with musical theatre gems…including a cheeky nod to a certain Oz-set musical with two extra special treats for Wicked fans!”
