While We Will Rock You musical creators Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor and writer Ben Elton spend time in New York with co-producer Robert De Niro for final cast and band auditions for the show's North American national tour which will open in October in Baltimore, the London production celebrates its 11th birthday tomorrow evening, May 14.

It was May 14 2002 We Will Rock You opened its doors at London's Dominion, and has played to packed houses since, regularly establishing highest weekly averages in the West End. The show is now the 9th longest running show currently playing in the West End in a list topped by The Mousetrap, Les Miserables and Phantom on the Opera. In 2011 the show received the Olivier Audience Award for most popular West End Musical.

Aside from the forthcoming Autumn US tour, the show is now reaching new audiences across Europe making the step into Arenas, where the 'Rock Theatrical 'will be performed in front of thousands of rock fans every night. The Arena tour will see the show performed in Finland, Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria and the UK and Ireland during 2013. Further dates in Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and the USA will be announced shortly. Speaking of the tour, Brian May says: "After our first 10 years in Rock Theatricality, this is the next giant step for We Will Rock You - and the show will feature a brand new arena-size design - a big night out for all!"

The US version, presently being cast in New York, will feature an all American company in a show specially adapted by Ben Elton for US audiences.

Starting its 12th year in the West End tomorrow, the London Dominion production of We Will Rock You is presently booking through to 2014.
