Untold Stories New Writing Festival Moves to the Arcola as Part of SLAM Festival ImageUntold Stories New Writing Festival is excited to be starting 2018 as part of the SLAM Season at The Arcola. Following on from a very successful year at SLAM Kings Cross in 2017, where they staged 24 new plays over four festivals to sell out audiences and critical acclaim. Once again they will be presenting a collection of diverse new plays by some of the most exciting and up and coming theatre makers and playwrights which feature some highlights from 2017 and showcase some new talent.

"Untold Stories began as the development arm of Untold Arts, championing unspoken tales from history as well as present day. It has since grown into an entity in its own right, with the belief that giving a platform to new voices is more important than ever. By showcasing new work and developing the pieces from short form to One Act plays, we hope to uncover the theatre makers of the future. We are delighted to be joining forces with SLAM once more and are looking forward to presenting these plays at the innovative and diverse Arcola Theatre." Mark Lindow, Untold Stories

Untold Stories exists to find plays that tell stories from a diverse range of theatre makers. Tell stories that aren't, or haven't been told. Find a new perspective on a familiar story, one from a point of view that will surprise and inspire the audience. The company aims to develop new works by new and up and coming playwrights through the festival to find the next great untold story and take it to a wider audience.

SLAM was founded in 2016 and is a company dedicated to celebrating new writing and solid talent in every possible way. They programme: spoken word, theatre, art, music and comedy, housing their work with minimal fuss and maximum facilitation to provide a sturdy platform from which they can showcase their work. From that, our mission is to build a community of both emerging and emerged artists, writers and performers, creating development opportunities within it. Nurturing our social impact as we go, we will be developing an educational strand, built upon a variety of workshops, that will feed into the live events.
