UK Tour of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE Cancelled Due to Lack of Ticket Sales Image

It has just been announced that the UK national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie has been cancelled. In a statement from David King for Modern Millie Ltd., it was revealed that the cancellation was due to lack of ticket sales.

Read the full statement below:

We are extremely sorry to have to announce the cancellation of the UK tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

This has been caused by lower ticket sales than expected, which in turn has put the company producing the show in financial difficulties and they are no longer able to continue with the tour. The show was wonderful, and received excellent reviews as it toured the UK, but despite this, ticket sales were not strong enough to maintain the viability of the show. Our thanks go out to the brilliant cast of the show, who sang and danced their hearts out to bring Thoroughly Modern Millie to audiences all over the country. Sadly, and regretfully, the show is now cancelled.

We extremely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this cancellation will cause everyone who was planning on seeing the show.

Thoroughly Modern Millie was set to tour the UK until August, with actress Hayley Tamaddon taking on the title role of Millie Dilmount, a Kansas girl determined to make it big in New York City.

Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film. Taking you back to the height of the Jazz Age in 1920s New York City, when 'moderns' including a flapper named Millie Dillmount, were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.
