After various rumours of a Sex and the City movie died down due to supposed riffs amongst the leading ladies, Kim Cattrall, aka Samantha Jones, will come to London/>/> to star in Whose Life Is It Anyway?, in which she plays a paralysed sculptress. Though finding success in America/>, the actress is actually British-born, training at LAMDA with relatives still living in Liverpool/>. In the production she will be directed by Peter Hall at the 650 seater Duke of York's Theatre, currently home to Dirty Blonde. Whose Life..  starts previews on January 7th 2005 and will open on the 25th.

Oh dear. After a quiet spell with few closures announced, they're slowly crawling back. We Happy Few, directed by Sir Trevor Nunn and written by his actress wife Imogen Stubbs/>, wi/>/>ll close at the Gielgud Theatre on July 31st, just six weeks after opening. Its star, Juliet Stevenson, had planned to take a month of holiday in August, despite only initially booking to November. The show had been criticised in previews for being too long – over three and a quarter hours – and reviews were generally negative, with Variety stating "collectors of West End/> crash-and-burns should make a beeline to the Gielgud Theater". Imogen Stubbs is currently appearing in her husband's production of Hamlet at the Old Vic. Ironically, they both finish the same day.

But hot on its heels is the transfer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest from the Edinburg/>h/> Fringe Festival with Hollywood/>/> actor Christian Slater. Sla/>ter, best known for Interview with the Vampire, has been likened to Jack Nicholson throughout his career and will play the role Nicholson made famous. Also appearing in the play is Mackenzie Crook, best known to English audiences for playing geeky Gareth in The Office but also on an international level for taking a part in The Pirates of the Caribbean/>. Following its initial August run at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburg/>h/> (which is heavily sold), it transfers to London/>/>'s Gielgud on September 3rd.

Every August there used to be a popular series at the Donmar Warehouse called Divas at the Donmar, where the biggest names in musical theatre presented a showcase of their work. Having been axed by new artistic director Mich/>/>ael Grandage, the Theatre Royal Haymarket has found a solution – Singular Sensations, a series of two-week cabaret stints. But who will top the bills? Starting off is Broadway legend Barbara Cook, then singer Mich/>ael Feinstein followed by Mich/>/>ael Ball, who has created many leading roles on stage. Another name is set to be announced and top price tickets are just £25. It begins on September 7th.

And finally, feeling lucky on a night out to the theatre? If so, why not try Little by Little at the Arts Theatre, London/>/>. The off-Broadway musical, starring Pau/>/>l Spicer and Julie Atherton, will give free condoms to its audiences as a gimmick to promote their sponsors Trojan Condoms. Distributing the freebies is recent Big Brother evictee Marco Sabba. Producer Neil Eckersley currently deserves our full attention, as he is the man behind the successful Notes From New York season and will produce and oversee new productions of John and Jen and The Last Five Years in London/>/>.

This week Jake took a trip to see Snoopy the Musical at the New Player's Theatre. Click here to read his thoughts...
