Award-nominated Vertigo Theatre Productions recently had the great honour of producing the UK Premiere Productions of Legendary writer/performer Charles Busch's Off Broadway (and movie) camp masterpieces ‘Die, Mommie, Die! and Psycho Beach Party. Both productions smashed box office records for Vertigo and audience members chose the 2 shows (along with Vertigo's original drama OUT!) as their favourite shows by the company.
After having to turn so many away on the nights for Die, Mommie, Die! due to it selling out Vertigo are thrilled to announce that Die, Mommie, Die! is opening again for TWO performances only, this time at the Ballroom in Sachas Hotel.
The show will play the 24th and 25th of August and is part of the official line up for Manchester Pride 2011, something Vertigo are very proud of due to the company's strong connections with the Manchester gay scene.
All of the original UK cast led by Dale Vicker, Adele Stanhope and Dave Mclaughlin will return to the show that Iain Scott from Canal Street.co.uk called ‘One of the best things I have ever seen at Taurus', Craig Hepworth who won rave reviews for his direction will again direct the production.
Ticket demand is expected to be high so book early to avoid disappointment as this is a strictly limited run. Tickets for the camp crowd pleaser will go on sale from May 1st via Quaytickets.
Circa 1960s, Angela Arden, a fallen pop diva is trapped in a hateful marriage to film producer Sol Sussman. Desperate to find happiness with her younger lover, an out-of-work TV actor named Tony Parker, Angela gruesomely murders her husband with the aid of a poisoned suppository. Angela's manipulative daughter, Edith, convinces her 'emotionally disturbed' brother, Lance, that together they must avenge their father's death... by killing their mother!
A brilliant campy melodrama that pays homage/parodies those wonderful (and slightly demented) 50's and 60's Melodrama's such as Dead Ringer, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. A smash hit on stage in New York and turned into the Sundance Festival award winning movie, Die, Mommie, Die! is a show not to be missed.
After Die, Mommie, Die! Vertigo will bring another old favourite back to the stage at their regular home at Taurus Bar on Canal Street. The original thriller ‘M' is coming back due to audience demand. Originally premiered in 2009 the show opened to rave reviews with What's on Stage.com calling it ‘Marvellous and well worth seeing' and the MEN saying ‘M easily meets its target'.
The thriller, a throwback to those trashy teen thrillers of the 90s such as Wild Things and Cruel Intentions will open November 29th through December 4th. Tickets will go on sale in August. The thriller by Craig Hepworth and Adele Stanhope has new twists and turn and a shock new ending that even the cast won't be aware of until a couple of weeks before opening.
Morals take a back seat to Sex, Manipulation, greed and murder in this outrageous thriller. Adele Stanhope will return to the lead role after recieving raves for the original production.
With another UK premiere on the cards for 2012 and an original drama, Vertigo continues to be diverse bringing works to the stage to invite a whole new audience to the theatre.
