Top of the Hill Productions Presents SHANTER by Maisie Brooker at the Old Red Lion Theatre

Have you ever taken banter too far? Berty, Amber, Hamish and Sam are childhood friends whose lives have taken different directions. They reunite for one big festival p**s-up when an unexpected guest arrives and burns a hole in their weekend plans.

Shanter is a dark comedy about the dangers of "Lad Banter" and how it can affect friend groups in a pressurized environment. This play will give you an insight into youth culture today and how vulnerable young people really are.

Top of The Hill Productions is an emerging company focusing on new and exciting work that tackles issues that are prevalent but rarely addressed in todays society.

Maisie Brooker on the play - "I wrote this play because I thought it was important to give everyone some insight into how vulnerable young people can be nowadays. I feel that peer pressure and 'lad culture' is something that needs to be addressed as it is so prevalent and can affect so many people. I also wanted to show that whilst festivals can be fun and hilariously amazing, they also have a darker side that you hear about much less often."
