The New Wolsey Theatre Announces THE LADYKILLERS Cast For Regional Tour

The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich has today announced the cast for their new co-production of Graham Linehan's THE LADYKILLERS, which will run from Thursday 7 to Saturday 30 September 2017, directed by Artistic Director PeteR Rowe. The show will tour to Salisbury Playhouse and Queen's Theatre Hornchurch this Autumn, who co-produce the tour after the recent success of Chris Chibnall's Worst Wedding Ever.

Ann Penfold stars as Mrs Wilberforce, whose wealth of theatre appearances include The Taming of the Shrew with Royal Shakespeare Company, Deep Blue Sea at West Yorkshire Playhouse, and Saturday Sunday Monday at the National Theatre. THE LADYKILLERS see's Ann's return to the New Wolsey Theatre having previously appeared in The Winter's Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Mrs Warren's Profession and Perfect Days when the theatre reopened in 2001.

Steven Elliott will be playing Professor Marcus, whose film credits include the title role in The Watcher in the Woods with Anjelica Huston, and whose theatre appearances include The Winter's Tale at the National Theatre, Measure For Measure at Royal Shakespeare Company and The Devil Inside Him at National Theatre Wales.

The cast will also include: Graham Seed as Major Courtney best known for his role playing Nigel Pargetter in the BBC's The Archers; Marcus Houden as Constable Macdonald (Nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Play in the BroadwayWorldUK West End Awards 2015 for The Tempest); Sam Lupton as Harry Robinson (Boq in Wicked Apollo Victoria Theatre); DamIan Williams as One Round (Ginger Gahagan in Billy Webb and Alfonzo Bonzo, presenter of Are You Smarter Than Your 10 Year Old), and Anthony Dunn as Louis Harvey (Calamity Jane, UK and Ireland Tour). Each tour venue will also be featuring a chorus of 'older ladies' from their own communities, who will play the friends of Mrs Wilberforce in Act One.

From Tue 12 September, every performance of THE LADYKILLERS will be available as Audio Described through a headset. This Audio Description will be pre-recorded in Ipswich, and will tour to each venue, meaning there are even more opportunities for blind and partially sighted audiences to access the performance. Each venue will also offer Touch Tours as part of their run of the show. On Tue 19 September at 1.30pm, the New Wolsey Theatre will present a Dementia Friendly/Relaxed Performance of THE LADYKILLERS, where the environment will be adjusted for those needing a more relaxed atmosphere to attending the theatre, or need additional support.

The New Wolsey Theatre have also announced that they will be working with set and costume designer Richard Foxton, lighting designer Alexandra Stafford, fight director Bret Yount and composer/sound designer Rebecca Applin.

Rehearsals for the production begin on Monday 14 August, and the brand new regional tour kicks off at the New Wolsey Theatre on Thursday 7 September, with the Press Night on Tuesday 12 September at 7pm. The production remains at the New Wolsey Theatre until Saturday 30 September before heading to Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch from Tuesday 3 to Saturday 21 October, and Salisbury Playhouse from Tuesday 31 October to Saturday 18 November.
