THE PITMEN PAINTERS PLAYS Tuesday 13 - Saturday 17 October At the New Theatre

Evenings 7.30pm; Thursday & Saturday Matinees 2.30pm

Written By Lee Hall

Written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) this critically acclaimed smash-hit comes to the New following sell-out seasons at Live Theatre, Newcastle and the National Theatre, London.

In 1934, a group of Ashington miners hired a professor to teach an art appreciation evening class. Rapidly abandoning theory in favour of practice, the pitmen began to paint. Within a few years the most avant-garde artists became their friends and their work was acquired by prestigious collections; but every day they worked, as before, down the mine.

Running Time: 2h 30m
Running time is approximate and supplied for guidance only.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
At 6.45pm on the opening night of The Pitmen Painters the Cardiff Arms Park Male Voice Choir will be singing in the Circle bar area. This event is free to ticketholders - so come along early!
