Vibrant and witty Teasel Theatre Company present Grisly Tales from Tumblewater at Carriageworks Theatre today 15 February at 2pm and 4pm.
This magical, musical story tells the tales of a determined orphan named Daniel Dorey. Armed only with his wits and a satchel of spine- chilling stories this fearless orphan stumbles into a twisted world in which everything and everyone, even the police, are controlled by the evil Caspian Prye.
Can Daniel Dorey bring down Caspian Prye? Can he rescue the girl in the distant room? Can he even stay alive long enough to tell his tales?
'Grisly Tales from Tumblewater' combines laughs, frights and live music creating a family friendly play aimed at those who enjoy darkly comic fantasy and surreal delight. It is Dickens meets Roald Dahl viaHorrible Histories.
Based on Bruno Vincent's children's book of the same name, this enchanting fairytale is performed single-handedly by Edward Jaspers. Jumping from narrator to orphan to villain, Jaspers brings each character to life in this one-man version of the novel nominated for the Waterstone's Children's Book Awards 2010.
