Though he first achieved fame on American shores as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and is currently back on small screens as British newscaster Walter Blunt, attempting to conquer American nightly cable news in Jonathan Ames and Seth MacFarlane's Starz series "Blunt Talk," to his English countrymen Sir Patrick Stewart is also known as one of our finest living Shakespeare actors.
His Broadway debut may have went by relatively unnoticed, playing tinker Tom Snout in the Royal Shakespeare Company's 1971 production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, but once stardom came he memorably returned to Gotham as Prospero in THE TEMPEST and in the title role of MACBETH.
All year long, theatre companies and arts organizations around the world have been commemorating 2016 as the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's passing. Since the exact anniversary date is tomorrow, April 23rd, Patrick Stewart decided to honor the occasion on Twitter, with one of his favorite Shakespeare speeches.
