Avenue Q absconds

Avenue Q's coming into the last month of its run at the Wyndhams Theatre (previously having been homed at the Noel Coward and then the Gielgud, until it was unseated by shows like Hair). It's been around for four and a half years and ticket sales haven't been super-strong for a while, so there are plenty of ticket offers out there for you to take advantage of.

One great one that's available until October 1st is on seemoretickets.com, a discount site for See Tickets, where you can nab some £39.50 seats reduced to just £25 each. I've seen the show twice - the last time being quite a long time ago, however - and will be traipsing along next Thursday to check it out just one more time before it closes its doors for good.

Clybourne Park conquers all

It’s finishing on October 2nd and it’s already sold out, but if you’re in the market for getting hold of some returns then Clybourne Park at the Royal Court is definitely worth your time. Starring everyone from SopHie Thompson to Martin Freeman and Gavin and Stacey's Steffan Rhodri, this is a brilliantly black comedy that everyone should see.

Also in the cast is Lucian Msamati, who has just been announced as the new artistic director of African theatre company Tiata Fahodzi. He's taken over from veteran actor and director Femi Elufowoju Jr, who vacated the position last year. These guys are doing exciting work so do keep an eye out for their pieces when Lucian takes the role on - he joins officially in November.

What To See

Only one recommendation this week, and that's The Old Vic's Design For Living. This Noel Coward threesome comedy is absolutely hilarious and stars AnDrew Scott as Leo, Tom Burke as Otto and Lisa Dillon as Gilda as well as a brilliant Angus Wright as Ernest Friedman. The two boys spark off each other brilliantly. This is great fun.
