The King's Theatre has revealed the final Aladdin cast member is Justin Vanderhyde who'll be playing the role of the Genie of the Lamp.

Justin has appeared in ITV's Bad Girls but is best known to TV audiences for reaching the judges' houses stage on the X Factor in 2010 where he was mentored by Louis Walsh.

This Christmas he joins a star-studded line up including comedienne Karen Dunbar, who's taking on a new role as Slave of the Ring, Still Game's Gavin Mitchell as the evil Abanazar and Capital FM's Des Clarke as the lovable Wishee Washee. Kieran Brown, Gordon Cooper, Jenny Douglas, Steven McNicoll, and John Ramage complete the cast who have re-united following last year's critically acclaimed Cinderella.

But our newest edition is no stranger to pantomime with theatre credits including; Peter Pan (Royal DernGate Theatre), The Princes Trust Gala (Lyceum Theatre), BBC's Polka Dot Shorts Tour, Peter Pan (Madinat Theatre, Dubai & Victoria Theatre, Halifax), Jack and the Beanstalk (Theatre Royal, York), lead vocalist in Venetian Masquerade (Millennium Point Birmingham), lead vocalist in Out Of Africa (Knowsley Park Liverpool) and Justin has just finished the UK Tour of Clockwork.

On playing the Genie of the Lamp Justin said: "I am excited to be joining the cast of Aladdin at the King's Theatre. This is my first time in Glasgow and everyone has been so welcoming. It's good family fun with lots of laughs - what more do you need in a panto?! It's going to be hard work but well worth it when you see the audience enjoying the show."

ALADDIN runs Friday 6 Dec - Sun 12 Jan 2014.
