The hills of Sheffield will be alive with The Sound of Music from Monday 2 - Saturday 14 February, as Bill Kenwright's new production takes to the Lyceum stage. This wonderfully lavish production of the classic musical features some of the most memorable songs ever performed, including Edelweiss, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, and of course, the title song The Sound of Music. Musical fans will also be thrilled to see Rodgers and Hammerstein's Pulitzer Prize-winning show Oklahoma! (Tuesday 21 July - Saturday 1 August). Families will be entertained by Dinosaur Zoo, which roars into town from Saturday 28 February - Sunday 1 March and is a chance to get up-close and personal to extraordinary life-like dinosaurs, whilst Disney fans can dress up and sing-a-long to the hugely popular Frozen on Saturday 4 April.
Comedy visits the Crucible, in the guise of Sheffield's very own singer/organist John Shuttleworth (Radio 4's John Shuttleworth's Lounge Music) who returns to perform some of his unique tunes in his brand new show, A Wee Ken to Remember (Tuesday 24 February) and comedian and political activist Mark Thomas brings his award-winning Edinburgh festival show Cuckooed on Thursday 26 February.
Sheffield based Croft House Theatre Company return to the Lyceum with the fabulous feel-good musical comedy Sister Act, based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, from Tuesday 10 - Saturday 14 March and opera lovers will enjoy the return of English Touring Opera, who will be performing a new production of Puccini's heartbreaking La Bohème on Monday 30 March and Donizetti's rarely seen The Seige of Calais on Tuesday 31 March.
The King's Speech, the West End show that inspired the Oscar-winning film, visits the Lyceum from Monday 13 - Saturday 18 April. Starring Jason Donovan as maverick speech therapist Lionel Logue, The King's Speech is the powerful story of King George VI's extraordinary journey to overcome his stammer, as he prepares to address the nation while Great Britain stands on the brink of the Second World War.
This December, audiences for the Crucible's toe-tapping Christmas musical Anything Goes (Friday 28 November 2014 - Saturday 17 January 2015), will be able to take advantage of a dinner and show package. Available on selected Friday evening performances, the offer includes a delicious three-course festive meal at Crucible Corner and best available seats for the show.
