Following the sell-out success of its first production, CandyKing Theatre is proud to present THE SERIOUS BUSINESS OF CHOOSING A MATE - a richly comic double bill of unsuitable suitors, guns and strange proposals.
In FAIRY TALE, a princess waiting for her perfect prince must overcome a shocking reality if she is to make her dreams come true.
In THE PROPOSAL, a nervous landowner finally decides to ask for his neighbour's hand in marriage. But there are two obstacles: him and her.
Both comedies explore that age-old question: what if the person of your dreams never actually turns up?
CandyKing Theatre - www.candykingtheatre.co.uk - is a young, vibrant theatre company whose aim is to produce classic revivals alongside exciting new writing.
FAIRY TALE is a new play written by Jeremy Green, whose other works include The Wolfgang Chase for the BBC and the award-winning Snakes.
THE PROPOSAL is a classic short farce by Anton Chekhov in a new modern translation.
Recent reviews of our cast:
For me the best performance was that of Emma West who certainly has a magnetic stage presence. She has the skill of listening to what is being said to her and reacting with truth and honesty.

Brett Harris is a tireless Porter. He perfectly catches the rhythm of Jimmy Porter's anger and sustains it for the entire performance, never once letting on that being Jimmy is almost certainly exhausting.

Donal Cox...captivating, it was clear he had taken on the character
wholly.
Fringe Review 2008 and our director: Maria Chiorando brings to the Greenwich Playhouse this faithful production of John Osborne's ‘Look Back In Anger' ... a highly professional, emotional and skilled rendering of a British masterpiece. Well done to Chiorando, CandyKing Theatre and the Greenwich Playhouse.
