The Donkey Show, which achieved cult-status following its critically acclaimed seven-year run in New York, and has been seen by over a million people worldwide, was first staged in London fifteen years ago. This new production of the smash-hit show will be directed by Ryan McBryde (Saturday Night Fever), designed by award-winning designer Diego Pitarch (Fiddler on the Roof directed by Craig Revel Horwood) and choreographed by Lucy Ridley (Movement Director for Secret Cinema). The show will be produced by Simon Friend, Jacob Wagen, Oli Sones and Adam Paulden in association with Dan Looney and Jason Haigh-Ellery, and executive produced by Alex Proud.
Randy Weiner, Co-creator of The Donkey Show, said "We are thrilled that The Donkey Show is returning to the UK. The good people of London have always been our best audience with their great love in equal measure of dancing and Shakespeare. It's time to put on your dancing shoes and immerse yourselves in our Midsummer Night's Disco."
Director, Ryan McBryde, said "What better way to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death than with a Midsummer's Night's Dream meets Studio 54 mash up? It's an audacious hybrid of circus, musical theatre, dance, light and nightclub all set to a seventies soundtrack. And just like the original play, it's all about love, lust and infatuation."
