West End musical The Commitments is to close on Sunday 1st November 2015, after a successful run at the Palace Theatre. The London run will be followed by an extensive 2017 UK and Ireland tour, further details will be announced soon.
Since opening to rave reviews on 8 October 2013, The Commitments - adapted for the stage by Booker Prize-winning Roddy Doyle from his original best-selling novel - has played more than 1000 shows, receiving a rousing standing ovation for each performance.
Directed by the award-winning Jamie Lloyd, the show is bursting with classic soul songs including I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Knock On Wood, Try A Little Tenderness and of course, Mustang Sally.
Producer Phil McIntyre said: "We've had a great run at the Palace Theatre and we now look forward to bringing the people's musical to people across the UK & Ireland with our 2017 tour."
