After only opening earlier this week, Spring Awakening has extended booking by two weeks at the Lyric Hammersmith. The Broadway transfer is now taking bookings until 14 March 2009 after which a West End season is likely followed by a hoped for UK Tour.

The Tony Awarding-winning musical opened to mostley rave 5-star reviews. Spring Awakening is based on the controversial 1891 German play of the same title by Frank Wedekind. Set in late-nineteenth century Germany, it concerns teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. The musical is directed by Michael Mayer, music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. The London show features a mainly unknown British cast.
