Simon Burke will star alongside John Barrowman in the West End hit La Cage aux Folles from September 14th.

He takes over from fellow Australian Philip Quast and will continue in the role until November 28th. He is the fourth actor to play ageing St Tropez nightclub owner Georges since the production opened at The Playhouse Theatre in October last year.

Since winning the AFI Award for Best Actor at the age of 13 for his performance in The Devil's Playground, Simon Burke has enjoyed great success both in Australia and the UK in film, television, stage, concert appearances and cabaret. He recently appeared in Andrew Bovell's new play When The Rain Stops Falling at The Almeida Theatre and as Captain von Trapp in the Sound of Music at the London Palladium.

His many stage credits also include Marius in the original Australian cast of Les Miserables, Billy Flynn in Chicago, Whizzer in Falsettos (nominated Best Musical Performance Sydney Theatre Critics' Circle Awards) and Billy Crocker in Anything Goes for which he received the Green Room Award for Best Actor in a Musical. In London, he has played Raoul in Phantom of the Opera and Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music starring with Dame Judi Dench at the Royal National Theatre.

Simon's impressive repertoire extends to film and television as well, including Pitch Black (with Vin Diesel), BBC 1 series Hustle and Australian productions Brides of Christ, After the Deluge, Water Rats, Thank God You're Here, All Saints and The Alice.

La Cage aux Folles is a timeless and deliciously funny tale of family values, unconditional love, and above all, the need to celebrate who we are. Critics and public alike remain unanimous in praise for the production which won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival in 2008.
