Barely Methodical Troupe presents

SHIFT

Conceived by Melissa Ellberger

Directed and Devised by Melissa Ellberger and Ella Robson Guilfoyle with the Cast

Produced by DREAM

Tuesday 7 May - Saturday 18 May 2019

Press Night: Wednesday 8 May, 7.30pm

The UK's hottest circus company, award-winning Barely Methodical Troupe comes to Shoreditch with SHIFT, following up on their international smash-hits Bromance and Kin. Combining show-stopping acrobatics with the emotional punch of theatre, four extraordinary performers test their physical limits in an explosive display of power-based acrobatics.

Marooned in an unstable environment, where everything moves and nothing is certain, the performers work to understand the space they find themselves in. Using all available resources - string games, storytelling, rubber bands (!), they explore all possibilities, trying to gain some control.

SHIFT challenges perceptions, experiments with pace and plays with ordinary objects creating an unusual and transformative dreamscape. It's fresh, fun and scary!

Commissioned by Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2018 and co-produced by Norfolk & Norwich Festival and DREAM. Supported by Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts.

Kneehigh's Ubu - a sing-along satire

Conceived by Carl Grose, Charles Hazlewood and Mike Shepherd

Created by the Company

Based on the play by Alfred Jarry

Thursday 5 December - Saturday 21 December 2019

We all know King Ubu. That deranged dictator we all love to hate. Impossibly greedy, unstoppably crude, inexorably daft and hell-bent on making the country great again! Sound familiar?

Based on Alfred Jarry's riot-inducing masterpiece, Kneehigh will let rip with their own version of theatre's most anarchic creations - KING UBU.

Expect world-class buffoonery in this deliriously unhinged improvised promenade musical (surely the first of its kind!). Featuring some of the most iconic anthems of our times, given a fresh rub for their money by a belting Kneehigh band, plus an extraordinary choir of extras - you! - we guarantee this will be a rocking, rollicking riot of ridiculousness that you won't forget.

He'll rise! He'll reign! Only together will we make Ubu fall!
