Second Download Now Available For THE CONTAINER

Today, Monday 09 November 2009, Digital Theatre makes available its next high definition downloadable theatre production - The Container.
For £8.99, The Container, presented in association with The Young Vic and Amnesty International, highlights the plight of illegal immigrants coming to the UK and is written by Clare Bayley, directed by Tom Wright, designed by Naomi Dawson, with sound design by Adrienne Quartly. The Container is now available alongside English Touring Theatre's Far From The Madding Crowd, adapted by Mark Healy from Thomas Hardy, directed by Kate Saxon with a cast including Rebecca O'Mara, Phil Cheadle and Stephen Billington.
Co-founders Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw said: "The staging of the production inside a closed shipping container presented a unique challenge to Digital Theatre in filming the performance. We wanted to capture the atmosphere of the enclosed space by placing the cameras inside the container, right alongside the actors and the audience. We feel that when watching the film of The Container the viewer has a true insight into the harsh environments and extreme experiences that some people are forced into out of desperation."
Launched two weeks ago by Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw with an investment of over £1 million Digital Theatre and its first five creative partner theatres - The Almeida Theatre Company, English Touring Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Young Vic - will produce downloadable theatre productions filmed in front of live audiences for users to download and keep from www.digitaltheatre.com
