Winners of Britain's Got Talent, Collabro, two-time Olivier Award nominee, Michael Xavier, and one quarter of boyband Union J, Jaymi Hensley are to lead the guests at Sam Bailey: Live in the West End. Sam Bailey, who won ITV's The X Factor in 2013, will take the stage in London's West End for the first time in her career for a one-off concert at the Lyric Theatre on 12th October 2015. She will also be joined by US composer Scott Alan, West End leading lady, Caroline Sheen and Les Miserables alumni The Boys of the Barricade.
Having won the eighth series of Britain's Got Talent in 2014 with an outstanding number of votes, Collabro went on to release their debut number one album, Stars, which became the fastest selling debut of 2014 and one of the top 40 albums of the year worldwide.
Michael Xavier is one of the West End's most popular leading men. In 2011, he was nominated for 2 Olivier Awards - 'Best Supporting Performance in a Musical' (Wolf/Cinderella's Prince - Into The Woods at The Open Air Theatre) and 'Best Actor in a Musical' (Oliver - Love Story at The Duchess Theatre & Chichester Festival Theatre). Michael is currently playing Suffolk and George Of Clarence in Shakespeare's trilogy The War of the Roses directed by Trevor Nunn (Rose Theatre).
One quarter of boyband Union J, Jaymi Hensley, will also be returning to his musical theatre roots to sing at the Lyric. Union J went from talented unknowns to overnight sensations on the 2012 series of The X Factor and have recently released their second album. Before Union J, Jaymi trained at Sylvia Young Theatre School and studied musical theatre at the Brit School.
Also joining Sam at the concert will be acclaimed US composer Scott Alan, who recently finished a sold out residency at the Hippodrome in London and whose first album, Dreaming Wide Awake, sold over 500,000 copied. The line-up of guests also includes award-winning West End leading lady, Caroline Sheen, whose past roles include the title role in Mary Poppins and playing both Fantine and Eponine in Les Miserables. .
Sam Bailey: Live in the West End will also feature appearances from Les Miserables alumni, The Boys of the Barricade, and a choir from Guildford School of Acting.
Speaking of the concert, Sam said "I can't wait to take the stage in London's incredible West End and have the chance to perform some of my favourite musical theatre numbers. It's going to be a fantastic night with a few surprises for the audience! I'm particularly excited to show you all a completely different side of myself from the one you saw on The X Factor..."
The concert is produced and directed by Katie Pesskin (British Musical Futures, RSO in London [St James Theatre],The Last Five Years [Greenwich Theatre] with musical direction by Michael Riley (Danielle Hope: In Concert [Delfont Room], The Last Five Years [Greenwich Theatre]). Choreography will be by Ciarán Connolly with lighting design from Charlie Morgan Jones. Casting is by Benjamin Newsome. Sam Bailey is represented for musical theatre by Oxford Adams Associates.
