The fourth Snappy Title charity showcase of new musical theatre writing will be presented at The Pheasantry, Chelsea on Sunday, July 1. Co-produced by the New Musicals Network and A Stage Kindly, Snappy Title 4: The Secret Of Happiness will be staged in aid of the Myasthenia Gravis Association.
Myasthenia Gravis is a debilitating and incurable condition (afflicting around 10,000 sufferers in the UK) which affects the muscles, in particular the mouth muscles, making a smile virtually impossible. Hence the concert’s aim to make people smile while posing the question - what is the secret of happiness? Perhaps possessing good health or great wealth. Or maybe sharing one’s life with that special someone.
Various answers to that question will be given in the form of songs by many of the most gifted new musical theatre writers and composers, including Paula Rosen, Laurence Mark Wythe, Daniel Loveday, Charles Bloom, Finn Anderson, Joe Sterling and Christopher J. Orton.
The songs will be performed by a cast of talented artists, including Lorna Want (Footloose, Dreamboats & Petticoats, The Fantasticks), Mark Goldthorp (Jekyll & Hyde, Avenue Q), Rachael Louise Miller (The Cradle Will Rock, Les Miserables), Martin Neely (The Hired Man, Les Miserables), Kimberly Blake (Sweeney Todd), Kendra McMillan (Roll On The Day), Charlotte Bradford and “Search For A Twitter Star” Finalist Ben Vivian Jones (The Pirates Of Penzance, My Big Gay Italian Wedding).
