Following a sell-out winter season in 2011, SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW returns to London's Southbank Centre for a white Christmas season in 2012. The show's return to the Royal Festival Hall follows a UK Tour in 2011 which saw unseasonable snowstorms in Nottingham, Plymouth, Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Salford, Milton Keynes and Birmingham.
About the show: "SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW is the internationally acclaimed winner of the Time Out, Olivier and Drama Desk awards for most unique theatrical experience. It is a visual masterpiece loved by children and adults alike. A combination of theatrical clowning and stunning spectacle, SLAVA'S SNOWSHGOW is performed by a highly renowned company of clowns led by Slava Polunin. The show creates a dream-like world where one extraordinary image melts into another culminating in a stunning finale leaving the audience literally knee-deep in snow."
Influenced by artists such as Chaplin, Marcel Marceau and Engibarov, Slava Polunin and his company have taken clowning out of the world of circus, and brought it to theatre lovers, fellow practitioners and families worldwide.
SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW premiered in the UK in 1994 and has since toured the country, winning an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment during its run at the Old Vic in 1998. The Tony Award nominated show has won accolades the world over receiving the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience in 2005 and The Stanislavski Award in SLAVA's native Russia in 2001. The show's popularity overseas has seen it performed in 120 cities in 30 countries to more than 3 million spectators in over 4000 performances.
