Rare are the songwriters that have contributed to the music of the last five decades like Sir Tim Rice. From the Disney classics Aladdin and The Lion King, to iconic musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita to name just a few, Oscar and Tony Award winning Tim Rice is without doubt one of the world's greatest songwriters.
Following the success of last year's A Life In Song series, premiered by Don Black, the Royal Festival Hall will pay homage as they celebrate the songs and the stories behind the songs, with the show, Tim Rice - A Life In Song, on 8th July 2014.
His music has touched every one of us during his career, a feat acknowledged by his many accolades. From the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, to being a Disney Legend recipient, Tim Rice's body of work has stood the test of time, remaining as relevant and vital today as it ever was.
Tim Rice will also be in in conversation with Michael Grade about his life and career, the composers he has worked with and stories of how the songs came to life. Special guest artists will take to the stage to perform his songs, reminding us of the colossal impact he has had from stage to screen.
Music will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and conducted by Mike Dixon; the show will also be filmed by the BBC for broadcast later this year.
This will be a truly unique evening where you'll not only hear his fabulous music but also get the chance to step into the life and mind of one of the world's most respected and iconic lyricists.
