Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance are building on their reputation as world leaders in the training of actor-musicians by launching a new Actor-Musicianship* MA/MFA programme from October 2018.

The college, located in Sidcup, Kent, is adding to its groundbreaking Actor-Musicianship BA (Hons) course, whose alumni include Katie Brayben, Rosalie Craig and Sam Palladio. The new postgraduate course, the first of its kind in the world, will be led and designed by Jeremy Harrison, who has an international reputation as a teacher-practitioner and author of the Bloomsbury's book Actor-Musicianship.

Jeremy has created a unique pathway that will provide a focused examination of the skills of the actor-musician, whilst encouraging further research, experimentation and exploration. He said;

"With actor-musicianship now very much part of the established theatre-scene, both in the UK and America, it's a natural step for professional theatre makers to seek an intensive and in-depth exploration of how musical and acting processes can interrelate and feed each other. Creating work that is both music as theatre and theatre as music."

The new programme will also enhance the college's existing strong ties with industry partners. Paul Hart, Artistic Director of the Watermill Theatre in Berkshire, which is synonymous with the actor-musician movement, is looking forward to seeing how the new programme will help shape the industry;

"The actor-musicianship training at Rose Bruford College has a reputation for allowing performers to have a different voice in the room and the freedom to create something out of nothing through a shared and collaborative process. It excites me to see how that can be developed further through the new postgraduate programme."

The Actor-Musicianship MA/MFA students will be offered the chance to work closely with students from the existing Theatre for Young Audiences MA/MFA*, to explore interdisciplinary approaches to creating and performing for a range of audiences.

Rose Bruford College will be holding free MA information evenings in Central London on Tuesday 20 February and 6 March 2018 for potential applicants to find out more about the Actor Musicianship MA/MFA*, Theatre for Young Audiences MA/MFA* and a range of other postgraduate programmes starting from October 2018.
