Antic Disposition return to the Jermyn Street Theatre in central London with Romeo and Juliet, their searing interpretation of Shakespeare's enduring tale of love and devotion, deceit and despair, from Monday 21 April to Saturday 17 May 2008.

"Verona simmers with tension. Two feuding families fight an undeclared war. Emotions run high and violence lies barely beneath the surface of everyday life. When love invades the city, it sparks a chain of events with catastrophic consequences as Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers are brought to life in Antic Disposition's vividly haunting new production," describe press notes.

Exuding all the action, comedy and poignant romance associated with one of Shakespeare's most accessible and best-loved plays, Romeo and Juliet will feature well known TV actor Andrew Hayden-Smith as Romeo whilst Juliet is played by Ami Sayers, who recently played Viola in Antic Disposition's production of Twelfth Night. Following an early career in BBC children's drama Byker Grove and subsequently as a CBBC presenter, Andrew Hayden-Smith most recently appeared in the acclaimed new "Doctor Who."

Joining Andrew Hayden-Smith and Ami Sayers will be much loved actress Susan Penhaligon in the role of the Nurse. Most recently remembered for her regular role as Jean Hope in ITV's Emmerdale, Susan has a multitude of stage and screen credits to her name, including the popular sitcom "A Fine Romance" in which she starred alongside Judi Dench.

Produced by Antic Disposition, Romeo and Juliet is directed by Ben Horslen and John Risebero with design by John Risebero, lighting design by Howard Hudson, music by James Burrows and choreography by Helen Evans. Previous Antic Disposition productions include Shakespeare's Richard III, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest and Shakespeare's Twelfth Night as well as an original musical version of A Christmas Carol.

Romeo and Juliet performs Monday, April 21 through Saturday May 17; opens Thursday 24 April 2008 at 7:30PM.  Show times are Monday-Friday at 7:30PM; and Saturdays 3PM & 7:30PM.  Jermyn Street Theatre, Jermyn Street, London SW1
