Roger Allam has been cast to play drag queen Albin/Zaza in La Cage Aux Folles at West End's Playhouse theater. He will begin playing the role on May 4th.

Allam follows in the footsteps of Graham Norton who originally made his debut in La Cage Aux Folles in January. He will remain in the roll until May 2nd.

Allam's credits include City Of Angels, Les Miserables, Boeing Boeing, and Privates on Parade for which he won a Best Actor Award.

Opposite Allum, the role of Georges (Albin's lover) will be played by Phillip Quast.

Quast has won the Oliver Award three times, and has appeared in productions of Sundays in the Park With George, The Fix, South Pacific, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Stuff Happens, and more.

The Show: The idyllic existence of Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of the La Cage aux Folles club, is threatened when Georges' son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing politician, who wants to close down the local colourful nightlife! With a visit from the prospective in-laws imminent, they all decide to take drastic action to hide their lifestyle... but can they keep it up?

Tickets for their dates go on sale on March 16th, and the production has extended its booking through January 9 2010.
