The cast of Rock of Ages rallied the crowds at West End Live last weekend in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Air Guitar Ensemble. With several thousands of people rocking to 'Sweet Child O' Mine' in Trafalgar Square there's no doubt that the crowd was big enough to beat the ensemble of just 2377 in the US casino which has held the record since 2011. Yet the final decision rests with World Record officials who must decide whether the attempt qualifies according to their rules.

Whether or not the record was smashed, the West End Live audience were in their element, air-riffing with Tim Howar (Mike and the Mechanics), Simon Lipkin and the rest of the cast of this hit show. Currently at the Garrick Theatre, this mix tape musical includes some of the greatest hits of the 80's, including 'Wanted Dead Or Alive', 'Don't Stop Believin', 'Here I Go Again', and 'I Want to Know What Love Is'.

ROCK OF AGES THE MUSICAL has become an established hit in London's West End with celebrities and critics alike dusting down their leather, back-combing their hair and waving their lighters in the air to a show described as 'London's Greatest Guilty Pleasure'. Since opening, the cast has been cheered on by diverse fans from Britney Spears, Adam Garcia and Kimberley Wyatt to Cilla Black and Jeremy Clarkson.

Fans just can't get enough of the story of love, lust, leopard-skin and leather, all played out to a soundtrack of THE best rock songs of the 80s. More and more audience members are squeezing into decades old leather pants and dressing as their heroes from the era.

The five-time Tony nominated musical is now booking until November 2013 at the Garrick Theatre, following a year of ovation-inducing performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

The cast, led by the iconic Tim Howar of Mike and the Mechanics as 'Stacee Jaxx', includes:

Drew - Ross Hunter
Dennis - Daniel Fletcher
Sherrie - Natalie Andreou
Lonny - Simon Lipkin
Hertz - Rohan Tickell
Justice/Mother - Rachel McFarlane
Regina/Candi - Jodie Jacobs
Franz - Sandy Moffat
Mayor/Paul Gill - Nathan Amzi
Joey Primo/ Producer - Tim Driesen

Scenic design is by Beowulf Boritt, costume design is by Tony Award nominee Gregory Gale, lighting design is by Jason Lyons, sound design is by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski, and projection design is by Zachary Borovay.

Five times nominated for the prestigious Tony Awards in the US (including 'Best Musical'), Rock of Ages the musical is a celebration of Los Angeles rock culture. Set in 1987, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA's most famous rock club and they fall in love to some of the greatest songs of the decade.
