The show, which began life in a ramshackle Community Centre in Llarnrwst, Wales, will be brought to London for'one night only', a remarkable testament to the real-life stories told by the thirteen inspirational women in the cast. Aged 21 to 73 these ordinary but extra-ordinary ladies will take to the West End stage to share the best (and the worst!) of being blessed with XX chromosomes!
Genuine Women, Genuine stories, Genuine laughter.
In 2012 in a little village hall, a group of thirteen real women and their director Craig Ryder, devised the show of their lives -- about their lives -- and it became a sell out success across their home country, Wales.
Culminating in a triumphant and sold-out night at Rhyl Pavilion, what followed was a tumultuous story of joy, jeopardy and despair as just four of the ladies were chosen to tell their tales on stage at the Theatre Royal Windsor. Alongside a professional cast including Jenny Seagrove and Sue Holderness they became the depleted Whingeing Women.
Cracks appeared and the group split... but this story has a happy ending and now they are back together again, and ready to 'Say it like it is'...
Uniting women of all ages, shapes and sizes, REAL WOMEN is a no holds barred exposé of the Modern British Woman. The women share their frank, funny, and sometimes moving and risqué experiences - baring their souls on stage. Their real life stories will speak to every woman; from Coffee Mornings to Dogging, from Boobs to, of course, the Menopause and from 'Fifty Shades of Grey' to Getting Old Disgracefully.
The cast of REAL WOMEN includes a nurse, a teacher, a housewife, a financial adviser, a hairdresser and a medical receptionist -- each celebrating womanhood. REAL WOMEN proves that laughter really is the best medicine, and the perfect recipe for a great night out.
Director Craig Ryder is an actor and writer and is currently on tour in the cast of the award-winning production of the musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert, with Duncan James and Darren Day.
Producer Mark Puddle said, 'It is fantastic that we have managed to get these truly fantastic Women to the West End. I came across them quite by accident when visiting my grandparents in North Wales. They are just 13 REAL WOMEN of all ages - just saying what everyone else is thinking! The journey they have come on is amazing, from a little village Hall in Llanrwst North Wales to the West End. The show is funny, poignant and at times very moving, I am so glad they will have their one night in the West End and I hope 'REAL WOMEN' from across the country will come and support them.'
The REAL WOMEN are: Sue Holt, Rhian Hughes, Laura Jackson, Lynne Jones, Ffion Jones, Maggie Jones, Anna-Marie Munro, Joy Ostle, Nia Roberts, Nia Rowlands, Yvonne Townley, Anne Webb and Melissa Wilson.
