Tomorrow, Saturday 23 April 2016 the Royal Shakespeare Company will mark Shakespeare's birthday and the 400th anniversary of his death with a very special event -- SHAKESPEARE LIVE!
And now WhatsOnStage is reporting that Prince Charles, who has been president of the RSC for 25 years, will take part in the celebration in some capacity this weekend.
Directed by Gregory Doran and hosted by David Tennant and Catherine Tate in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the event will celebrate the huge legacy of Shakespeare's work across many different art forms including theatre, dance, opera and music.
The cast includes: Akala (Hip Hop Shakespeare), Roger Allam, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Simon Russell Beale, Ian Bostridge, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench, Anne Marie Duff, English National Opera, Paapa Essiedu, Joseph Fiennes, Alexandra Gilbreath, Henry Goodman, the cast of Horrible Histories, Rufus Hound, Rory Kinnear, John Lithgow, Ian McKellan, Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra, Tim Minchin, Helen Mirren, Alison Moyet, Al Murray, Pippa Nixon, Orchestra of the Swan, Gregory Porter, the Royal Ballet, Antony Sher, The Shires, Meera Syal, David Suchet, Catherine Tate, Rufus Wainwright and Harriet Walter.
The show will be broadcast live on BBC Two on 23 April, from 8.30pm and will be screened live to Picturehouse cinemas in the UK and Europe, and around the rest of the world by BBC Worldwide.
