Richard Alston's newest creation comes to Sadler's Wells as part of a triple bill. Chacony is inspired by the richness and nobility of Henry Purcell's Chaconne, and Britten's tribute to it.
Martin Lawrance's Tangent intertwines four couples as they explore further the vivid accents and attack of tango, accompanied by Astor Piazzolla's Quatro Estaciones Porteños, played live by Jason Ridgway on piano.
Richard Alston's hugely popular Gypsy Mixture, revived for the first time in a decade, brings with it a 21st century take on traditional Balkan folk music.
The evening will also feature a special curtain raiser by the students of the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. The students will perform Glint by Richard Alston made last year and set to Second Construction by John Cage.
