The stars of the current London revival of HIGH SOCIETY (playing at The Old Vic Theater) welcomed the original leading lady of the Broadway company, last night as Melissa Errico stopped by to show her support for the production.
Joined by Rupert Young (from the BBC's hit TV show Merlin) who plays C.K. Dexter Haven & esteemed West End actress, Kate Fleetwood (who inherited the iconic role of Tracy Lord), Errico congratulated the cast members on their impeccable performances as she regaled them with stories from the original Broadway run which opened 27th April 1998 at the St. James Theater. Errico, who was reviewed at the time, by USA Today as "all you want Tracy to be: beautiful, haughty, soulful, and musical" toasted Fleetwood's performance on Instagram as "absolutely magical with a fabulous voice and her whole portrayal was very touching. It was just so exciting to revisit this delightful show and the memories!" The show which is directed by Olivier Award Winner, Maria Friedman runs until 22nd August at Kevin Spacey's Old Vic Theater. Fleetwood's portrayal has been noted for "capturing Tracy's outward abrasiveness and inner uncertainty" (The Guardian).
Also stopping by to say hello to Errico was Ellie Bamber who played the role of Dinah originated by Anna Kendrick.
Errico was in town for Wimbledon where her husband Patrick McEnroe played three rounds in the Men's Invitational Doubles and commentated for ESPN television.
